Brother Mark Barry and his family are in need of our support. Mark’s Daughter, Ashley, a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University with a teaching certificate, has been diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Here is a brief view of her story;
On March 22, 2010, after experiencing double-vision and a loss of sensation in her left hand, Ashley went to see a neurologist. An MRI revealed she had a mass on her brain stem. After a week in the intensive care unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, a biopsy was performed. The results disclosed that she has High Grade Glioma. This is a relatively fast-growing cancerous tumor that is non-operable, as the brain stem is a very complicated and delicate part of the brain.
Swift and aggressive therapy is in process. Ashley has had completed one round of radiation and chemotherapy which has shown the tumor has stopped growing and actually reduced somewhat in size. More treatment is necessary, however. Ashley keeps a positive attitude takes a pro-active approach in dealing with her condition but needs our help to relieve the stress of costs that are building up.
A benefit has been organized to raise money to support Ashley during this difficult time. You can download the flier here or go to her website for more information. www.911forashley.com
Thank you for your support and we all wish Ashley and her family the very best.
