At our local’s monthly union meetings, we have been reporting on our progress with respect to our Random Drug Testing Program and we are now close to finalizing our Policy Booklet. The program will have a launch date of January 1, 2012. Once our Policy Booklet is complete you will receive a copy in the mail.

As a background, we have consulted with and sought the advice from other Unions who have had substance abuse programs for years. Your officers and staff have spent many hours in discussions with substance abuse professionals and the membership / employee assistance program (M/EAP) professionals.

Drug and alcohol abuse ruins our members lives as well as their families. In addition, the financial cost for American companies is well over 100 billion dollars a year. Drug testing is not only cost effective but a successful deterrent to the tragic impact of drug and alcohol abuse.
