Total and Permanent Disability

To be eligible for a Total & Permanent Disability Pension, a participant would need a minimum of 5 years of Vesting Credit. One year of Vesting Service must have been credited within the immediate two (2) Plan Years preceding the date of disability.

The Total & Permanent Disability can not be the result of addiction to narcotics or suffered or incurred while engaging in a felonious enterprise, or the result of an intentionally self-inflicted injury.

You shall be required to have applied for and have received a Social Security Disability Award. The Trustees in their sole discretion may waive this requirement based on other valid medical evidence.

Upon receipt of the application and approval and after a six (6) month waiting period from the date the disability first commenced, the pension could start the first of the following month.

The benefit would be based on your years of Benefit Service multiplied by the Benefit Rate in effect at the time of the commencement of your total disability. Benefits would then be reduced based on your age at the commencement of benefits:

Age

Percent of Reduction

To age 57 30%
57 25%
58 20%
59 15%
60 10%
61 5%

Upon reaching age 62, your pension would be recalculated to provide the benefit you would have received based on your years of service and if you had retired at age 62. You will also be able to select a Form of Payment at that time.

In at any time prior to age 62, you recover and are no longer disabled, your pension would cease. At that time, if you qualify for another Type Of Pension, you may submit a new application for pension.
