DISABILITY TIPS

When you are disabled from work do to a non-work injury or illness, a claim form should be requested from the Fund Office. Benefit would begin with the first day of your disability due to injury or hospital confinement. In the case of illness, benefits begin after a 7-day waiting period. The benefits you receive are considered regular income and must be reported to the Internal Revenue Service. When you initially request a claim form for your disability, a withholding form will be sent to you so that you may decide on federal tax withholding.
